Portable Boat Fuel Tanks Problems . . . . . Are they safe?

I have been hearing of some problems with the new crop of portable gas tanks for boats.  Last year we had to change the gas tanks we were using thanks to the EPA.  It means the expensive custom gas tanks cost a whole lot more, don't fill as fast and hold less gas. Not sure if it makes any difference to air quality.  If the gas is forced into the engine or squirts out into the water or on the ground I'm thinking this isn't good for anyone.

I scanned this article from the Business Section of the July 7th, 2015 Milwaukee Journal.

I have also heard that the latest crop of portable gas tanks for filling your lawn mower, weed eater, chain saw and what have you also have EPA required devices on them.  It means it will be a pain to fill your off road motors gas tanks. I don't own any and hope my trusty old 6 gallon cans and 24 gallon gas docks last for the rest of my boating life!  You can write your elected officials but I doubt any of them care or will do anything . . . . . . . . . . . sad how things keep changing.
